It gives me great pleasure to inform you about GEOHORIZON’08, a National Level Technical Symposium conducted by the Society of GeoInformatics Engineers (SGE), Institute of Remote Sensing, Anna University to be held on 7th and 8th of March 2008. The event will witness the best brains in the field of GeoInformatics Engineering exhibiting their excellence to the maximum. Format for Paper Submission

Papers should not exceed 5000 words. Hard copy of papers should be sent to the President on or before the due date. Soft copy of papers should be mailed to mentioned id.

Maximum number of participants per paper: 4

Time given per presentation: 10 min (presenting) + 5 min (queries)

Format for poster presentation:

The poster should be an engaging and an eye-catching display of the author’s ideas. The poster should convey the results of the research activities as to promote the scientific achievements of the presenter. The poster should be presented for the conference by the participants during the poster session. The author is expected to be near his/her posters to answer the queries of the participants. The size of the poster should be 3 ft x 4 ft (Portrait or Landscape)

Quiz-o-Nut

This quiz will test your knowledge in subjects such as Remote Sensing, Geographical Information Systems, Digital Image Processing, Photogrammetry and Cartography.

Number of participants: 2 per team

Geocache

This is going to be a surprise event for the students which will be a test of their analytical, mapping and Surveying skills. It is a kind of Treasure Hunt with Survey instruments. One of our volunteers will be with the participants for consulting. Students will reach successive clues by following surveying procedure.

Debatir la Tierra

This is a debating event where students will have an on-stage debate on latest Geo-Spatial topics. The technical knowledge and debating skills of the students will be put to test. Topics will be extemporaneous and the participants will be given preparation time before the event.

Visual Instinct

The participants will be given an image in which they will have to identify certain features using their interpretation skills.

Welcome to the website of the Society of Geoinformatics Engineers (SGE). SGE was established to act as a platform for students pursuing Geoinformatics at Anna University to come out with innovative ideas and to explore beyond their curriculum.

An online presence for any Society is of utmost importance in this era of computers. It is indeed a good thing that the internet is helping in the progress of knowledge as a whole. The Society of Geoinformatics Engineers, not wanting to be left behind has started this initiative. This website is an online compilation of all the activities that the Society is involved in and also a register of activities.
